The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has published a COVID-19 fact sheet outlining mechanisms available to employers in streamlining processes to vary EBA’s in order to address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

New pandemic leave proposed to support employees

The Fair Work Commission plans to introduce unpaid pandemic leave and annual leave flexibility for millions of workers so that they can keep their jobs amidst the COVID-19 crisis. On 1 April 2020, the FWC announced that it proposes to vary 103 awards to insert a new Schedule X - Additional measures during the COVID-19 pandemic under section 57 of the Fair Work Act 2009.
